La Selva Beach in Watsonville, California

This public beach near Watsonville has many names – La Selva Beach, Lundborgh Beach, and Trestle or Trestles Beach. Technically this beach is state-owned property on the northern end of Manresa State Beach so don’t let locals convince you otherwise. It is considered the city beach of the community of La Selva Beach, but there is no easy public access because the parking lot is gated for resident access only. So you can A) walk a short distance north on the sand from nearby Manresa State Beach (easiest route but you must pay for parking), B) contact a local who has a key to the gate to the parking lot near the train trestle, or C) go to one of the nearby beaches instead. Sunset State Beach and Manresa State Beaches have four separate day-use areas with nice facilities and sandy beaches. Swimming is dangerous at La Selva Beach because of rip currents and the lack of lifeguards.
